High School Patriotic Art Contest:  The VFW Auxiliary sponsors the annual Young American Creative Patriotic Art Awards contest, with prizes totaling almost $20,000.00.  Select the button above for contest rules.  Entries should be submitted to the Auxiliary chapter by area high school students.  A judging panel of three local professional artists will evaluate the projects on the following factors:  Concept, Presentation, Patriotism Expressed, Clarity of Ideas, Elicitation of Emotion, Can It Stand on Its Own, Technique, Creativity, Contrast, and Total Impact of Work.

During a previous contest, the winning artist, Alyse Stewart of Manteo High School was awarded $150 and a certificate by the Auxiliary and the winning art was forwarded to the Department (State) competition.  Second place artist, Hunter Freeman of Currituck High School was awarded $75 and a certificate by the Auxiliary.

Alyse's art was selected as the First Place Winner of the North Carolina Department competition and was forwarded to Orlando, Florida to compete at the VFW National Convention competition, where it was selected as SECOND PLACE NATIONAL WINNER ! Alyse received $7500 for her winning art. Congratulations Alyse!
